OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS FOR BUSINESSES IN BRIGG AND DISTRICT


Businesses in the Brigg area may be interested in supplying goods and services for an £80 million project planned just a few miles away with an estimated 150 new jobs in the pipeline.
North Lincolnshire Council is to host a Buy Local drop-in event for local firms.

Could you be part of supply chain for potential £80m solar farm investment?

INRG Solar are looking for local businesses to supply services as part of the supply chain for a potential major new solar energy development in North Lincolnshire.
Subject to planning approval, the planned £80m investment could create 150 jobs during the construction of a new solar farm on private land near Santon on the outskirts of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.
To assist INRG Solar to build their local supply chain, North Lincolnshire Council is hosting a Buy Local drop-in event for businesses to find out more about they can get involved and benefit from this investment. Contracts are expected to start in 2019, subject to planning approval.
The event will take place at Civic Centre, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe on Wednesday 12 September from 10am to 6pm.
The company will be looking for local businesses, including:

  • Security services
  • Site contractors
  • Landscaper
  • Land surveyors
  • Electricians
  • Site management
  • Health and safety
  • General labourers
  • Machine operators
They will also be looking for service and equipment suppliers, including:

  • Stone and aggregate suppliers
  • Plant suppliers
  • Plant hire
  • General hardware
  • Fencing and associated equipment
  • Security equipment, including CCTV
  • Fuel suppliers
  • Portable buildings
  • Portable toilets
  • Accommodation (for example, B&Bs and hotels)
  • Pipe suppliers
  • Steel suppliers
  • Cable conduits
  • Electrical cable suppliers
  • Portable catering suppliers
  • Vehicle wash units
  • Safety equipment
  • Temporary lighting

Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This development from INRG Solar would be a major investment in North Lincolnshire and we’re pleased to be able to help local businesses network and discover how they can benefit if the plans go ahead.
“Businesses of all sizes and self-employed professionals are all invited to come along and find out how they will be able to apply for full or sub-contracts as part of the scheme.”
Ian Gannon, Director of INRG Solar, said: “We at INRG Solar want to support the local business community and this is the first stage in gathering a database of interested parties to ensure they are contacted in advance of the various stages of the development and its ongoing maintenance.”

Not to mention bankers, lawers.land agents investors....bet yer, most of these highly paid with be based in London and the South...
