ADDITIONAL CCTV CAMERAS SUGGESTED IN BRIGG TO COMBAT CRIME

Brigg Town Council is to consider putting funds towards the installation of additional CCTV cameras,  in an effort to combat crime.
Coun Carl Sherwood suggested a need for further CCTV coverage of the Millennium Green, on Elwes Street, and on the riverside, near the County Bridge.
Both areas have suffered incidents of damage and anti-social behaviour.
Coun Jane Kitching said she still needed convincing about the effectiveness of CCTV in providing footage that resulted in arrests.
Coun Ann Eardley questioned whether the camera monitoring the riverside would have an uninterrupted view as far as the Ancholme Way Bridge.
Coun Penny Smith said the extra cameras seemed a good idea but asked for the cost to be obtained and reported at a future meeting.
Coun Carl Sherwood and Coun Rob Waltham will look into this.
