CHAMPIONS BRIGG TOWN 'RAIN' SUPREME

Brigg Town Cricket Club made the long drive down to Alford yesterday (Saturday, September 8).
However, heavy rain meant the game against Alford 2nds had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.
This was Brigg's final fixture of a  very successful season in which they secured the championship of Lincolnshire County Cricket League division four.
League rules award five points to each team in these circumstances, taking Brigg's total to 250 out of a maximum possible 280 from 14 fixtures.
They won 12, lost one (very early on) and had one abandoned.
Broughton 2nds were one of the few teams to take the field yesterday across the five divisions and secured three bowling bonus points before their match was also washed out.
Although Brigg Town have completed their fixtures, Hibaldstow (division two) and Broughton (division one) have games coming up on the final day of the season - Saturday, September 15.  
That's weather permitting, of course - just a week before autumn begins!
