EIGHT MONTH WAIT FOR DECISION ON NEW HOMES PLAN FOR BRIGG TOWN CENTRE
It is eight months today since North Lincolnshire Council stopped accepting comments about a scheme to build three new homes on this "vacant" site in Brigg town centre.
Decisions are made on most local planning applications within a few weeks or a few months. But there's still no ruling on this one for land to the rear of 53 Wrawby Street, fronting Cross Street.
Any comments from the public had to be lodged with the council by August 3, 2017.
Three objections were made by members of the public, while Brigg Town Council informed North Lincolnshire planners that it supported the proposal.
However, eight months later, no decision has yet been made by North Lincolnshire Council.
The council's conservation section put in a "holding objection" on August 21 last year.
It said: "The applicant has submitted a heritage statement that does not adequately consider the significance of the known heritage assets that may be affected by these proposals.
"The application site is immediately adjacent to the three listed buildings and is within the Brigg conservation area."
The application submitted to the council said brickwork and tiles would match the existing area.
Agent for the applicant, who is from the North Bank, said in the heritage statement: This scheme would maximise the site potential and contribute to the overall accommodation for the area. The site is within a very vibrant and popular shopping area of Brigg. All facilities are within walking distance."
The submission also said: "The existing sensitive and neat design ensures that the character of the existing surrounding buildings is not comprised and the scheme respects the surrounding townscape and is suitable for the topography of the area."
