Pub celebrations were in order for Brigg Town cricketers following their first victory of the season on Saturday (August 8).
It came in a local derby at Broughton in the Challenge Cup - arranged for Lincolnshire County Cricket League teams after Coronavirus emergency lockdown had delayed the start of the 2020 campaign by three months.
Having lost at Barton in their opening group fixture on August 1, Town secured a four-wicket win at Broughton on Saturday in a high-scoring encounter.
Matthew Bell took four wickets at a cost of 17 runs as Broughton posted 194 for nine in their 40 overs.
He then contributed 38 in Brigg's successful run chase of 197 for six which included other useful knocks from Nigel Beacock (37 not out), David Baggott (33), Danny Minshall (23), Jack Richards (18), Danny Bradley (16) and Owen Dunderdale (15 not out).
Brigg's players returned to town and we encountered them from 9pm as they celebrated their success in the Black Bull, on Wrawby Street.
This Saturday (August 15) Town will continue their North East Group fixtures away to East Halton who normally play home games at Immingham. However, the venue is yet to be confirmed; we gather it may be Holton-le-Clay.
After that come visits to two of northern Lincolnshire's biggest clubs - Grimsby Town (August 22) and Cleethorpes (August 29).
