AL FRESCO EATING IN BRIGG TOWN CENTRE REQUIRES 'PAVEMENT LICENCES'

A Brigg business is seeking a 'pavement licence' to benefit those customers wishing to sit outside in the fresh air. It already offers 'eat in' and takeaway options.
YellowBelly Pizzeria at 28a Market Place is seeking formal permission from North Lincolnshire Council to utilise the furniture.
The business is seeking formal approval to site a metal table and chairs directly in front of his business at the following times: Monday to Wednesday, 11:30am to 2.30pm; Thursday to Saturday, 11.30am to 8.30pm.
This is a requirement of the Business and Planning Act 2020 - national legislation which North Lincolnshire Council's licensing division administers.
Brigg Town Council is being consulted as part of the process, and YellowBelly Pizzeria's application will be considered by the Planning & Environment Committee when it meets tomorrow evening (Monday, August 17). North Lincolnshire Council will then decide the application.
Other Brigg businesses have previously made similar submissions to site tables and chairs outside their premises.
Brigg Blog can see the sense in regulating 'street furniture'. However, the process seems somewhat elaborate in the case of a single table and a few chairs.
Could the government consider an amendment for small scale displays?
Many people enjoy al fresco eating and drinking in decent weather. Ciao for now!
