BRIGG TOWN CRUISE TO ANOTHER VICTORY

Brigg Town Cricket Club enjoyed an emphatic victory on Saturday (August 15).
Having won well at Broughton the previous week, Brigg secured a nine-wicket success away to East Halton in the Challenge Trophy. Brigg skittled their hosts for only 38 runs and lost just one wicket in securing a quickfire victory.
Town lost their opening group game at Barton on August 1, but two successive wins have lifted them up the rankings. They now visit Grimsby Town on Saturday (August 22) and then finish their North East Group fixtures at Cleethorpes on August 29.
Barton, Cleethorpes and Brigg - at the top of the table - currently have 10 points from three fixtures.
The winners of the four groups will meet in the semi-finals to be played at the beginning of September.
The start of the 2020 cricket season was delayed by government-imposed Coronavirus restrictions until August 1, resulting in the cancellation of all scheduled Lincolnshire League fixtures.
Playing in the same group as Brigg, Broughton rattled up an impressive 222 for six on Saturday, but visiting Cleethorpes won by four wickets.
In the North West Group, Haxey made 182 for two at Hibaldstow, who were bowled out for 158 in reply.
