REFUSED: PLAN TO CONVERT BRIGG FLATS

North Lincolnshire Council has refused to grant planning permission for Brigg flats to be converted.
Approval was sought to convert 4 flats into 2 dwellings, replace front porch & demolish existing conservatory at Manton House, on Bridge Street.
Giving its reasons for rejecting this application, the council said the proposal would result in a net loss of 2 housing units, adding to the housing shortfall within North Lincolnshire.
"The site is well suited to use as flats, due to the central location relative to the town centre and proximity to services and bus routes," the council said. "Justification for the loss of these two housing units sufficient to outweigh the loss in overall housing provision has not been provided."
The proposal was considered to be "unacceptable in principle."
Brigg Town Council was consulted about this application as part of the planning process - passing on its views to the unitary authority prior to the final decision being made.
The Town Council raised no objections but asked whether there were any landscaping proposals for the front of the property.
Anyone refused planning permission by a local authority has the right to lodge an appeal against the decision.
