Brigg Town Football Club fans can now watch the Zebras in action from the stands at the Hawthorns once again.
Normal service has been resumed with the government lifting a Coronavirus emergency restriction applying to clubs at Brigg's level in the football pyramid structure.
Previously in the pre-season build-up period, Brigg fans had to watch the action through the windows inside the bar.
Brigg have a local derby today (Saturday, August 22) kicking off at 3pm.
The Zebras will be hosting Bottesford Town in the second Ian 'Chalkie' White Memorial Trophy game, in memory of their former coach and youth development officer, whose picture is on show inside the clubhouse. Sadly, Ian died last year. He was a top player before retiring and moving into coaching, and had worked for Scunthorpe United and other Football League clubs.
All are welcome at the Hawthorns today; the licensed bar will be open and Pips Kitchen will be offering an extensive menu at reasonable prices, from 12.30pm to 5.30pm. For example, home-baked steak pie with chips & mushy peas will be available for a fiver!
The newly created and free-to-use family play area, adjoining the clubhouse, is also expected to see plenty of visitors.
Brigg Town cricketers have an important match this afternoon (Saturday), visiting Grimsby Town for a Challenge Trophy group match. Victory will keep alive Brigg's hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals of this new competition in early September.
Grimsby Town play at one of Lincolnshire's leading grounds, Augusta Street, which has hosted Minor Counties cricket and many top tournaments down the decades.
In the same competition this afternoon, Broughton will entertain East Halton, while Hibaldstow are at home to Haxey.
Brigg Blog is pleased to report that Broughton Working Men's Club, on the High Street, will be reopening from lockdown on Monday (August 24). The bar will be open daily from 4pm to 11.30pm, with social distancing.
