CONCERNS OVER BRIGG CONSERVATION AREA TREE

Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee, meeting on Monday evening, discussed a notice of intention to fell a pine tree within the Conservation Area at Point House, on Bigby Road, and raised no objections to this proceeding.
A tree care specialist's report submitted with the notice of intention to fell at Point House said: "Upon visual inspection of the pine tree outlined in the application, we have deemed this tree to be the cause of the damage to the property wall; the pine has grown to close proximity to the wall and the house with the roots erupting the wall structure over time and now have concerns of the wall failing in due course."
North Lincolnshire Council planners will now decide the application.

A general observation was made by former Town Mayor Coun Ann Eardley at Monday's meeting. She pointed out that, in recent years, other applications had been granted to remove a number of other trees within the Conservation Area, including ones off Albert Street and Bigby Road, without replacements being planted.
