FREE BRIGG D-DAY EVENT TODAY IS NOT TO BE MISSED
Don't forget to drop in at the Brigg D-Day 75th anniversary commemoration event today (Thursday, June 6).
On this day in 1944, Allied troops - supported by the Navy and the RAF - landed on beaches in Normandy, northern France, to begin the push towards Germany and secure victory in Europe the following May.
The Britannia Inn, on Wrawby Street, is holding a special commemorative event today, in conjunction with the Brigg & District Veterans' Group.
You can tuck into FREE Spam and corned beef sandwiches, followed by apple pie and custard, and enjoy nostalgic 1940s music.
There's no need to book places for the meal, which will be served from noon through the afternoon.
First, though, you might well like to take a look at a showpiece display erected in Brigg yesterday (Wednesday) as a tribute to our brave D-Day forces.
