BRIGG CRICKETERS LOSE OPENING GROUP MATCH BUT BROUGHTON SIDES ENJOY LEAGUE WINS

Despite a half-century from Danny Bradley, Brigg Town Cricket Club made a disappointing start to their Supplementary Cup campaign on Saturday (June 1).
Brigg lost their initial group fixture by six wickets at Messingham 2nds.
Opening the innings, Danny Bradley made 55 but the only other double-figure contributions were 19 from Mark Dawson and 17 by Danny Minshall.
Brigg were bowled out for 114 and failed to use 4.2 overs of their scheduled 30.
Messingham's skipper, the vastly experienced Tony Joy, then saw his side through to victory with an undefeated 54, although Danny Bradley claimed two wickets to add to his earlier efforts with the bat.
Messingham gained five points for this victory, but Brigg will have to win both their remaining group games to stand any chance to making it through to the semi-finals of the Supplementary Cup.
Both Broughton teams were victorious on Saturday.
The first team enjoyed a 10-run Division One win at Normanby Park, with Richard Green scoring 85.
Division Three leaders Broughton 2nds won their home game against Outcast 2nds by four wickets.
All-rounder Craig Hall performed well, taking five for 34 and then scoring an undefeated 33.
Broughton have yet to drop a point this season, having won all six games outright.
Brigg Town - without a Division Three fixture on June 1 - remain third in the table.
