FUNERAL SERVICE FOR FORMER BRIGG SPORTSMAN TO BE HELD THIS WEEK

The funeral service for former Brigg sportsman Steve Bailey will be a private one due to current restrictions, his family says.
It will be held on Thursday afternoon (June 10) at 2.40pm, when Steve's former Brigg Town Cricket Club colleagues will be thinking about him.
A medium-pacer bowler, he started playing for the club's 3rd XI on Sundays in the North Lindsey League during the late 1980s, but soon graduated to the Saturday 2nds and then appeared for the first team.
During his spell with Brigg Town, which included a stint as 2nd XI captain, the club played home games at Brigg Recreation Ground, Sir John Nelthorpe School and the Brigg Sugar Factory sportsground in Scawby Brook.
Steve later became an umpire on the Scunthorpe & District panel, standing in games across northern Lincolnshire.
