TRIBUTE TO BRIGG FOOTBALL STALWART

Ronald 'Geordie' Fox - very well-known in Brigg - has died aged 92, we were very sorry to learn.
He served on the committee of Brigg & District Servicemen's Club for many years and was the driving force behind the Coney Court venue's football club over a number of decades from the 1960s - encouraging the team from the touchline.
Thanks to his efforts as secretary, many seasons of upper division football were enjoyed at Brigg Recreation Ground by players and spectators.
His interests in local football and the club's licensed premises used to combine on Saturday evenings years ago.
During breaks between bingo sessions and live music acts, fundraising raffles were drawn in support of the football section.
Prizes were then presented by 'Geordie' and his wife Barbara, who lived on the Springbank estate.
The concert room was generally packed, and grateful winners of the monster breakfasts went home with enough to feed the entire family - for a day!
