BRIGG HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL NOW COMPLETE

Brigg Holocaust Memorial's inscribed stone plaque was installed fairly recently on the Millennium Green, off Elwes Street.
This was the final part of a project overseen by Brigg Town Council with support from the North Lincolnshire authority.

Competition-winning Sir John Nelthorpe School pupil Izzy Roberts designed the memorial sculpture - erected some time before the plaque.
Valued sponsorship came from local businesses G. Broughton & Sons, EC Surfacing Ltd, Keyo Agricultural Services Ltd, Rocal and Turnbull & Co Ltd.
The memorial stone was created by monumental mason Samuel Jacob Oliver - a specialist in this field.
An inscription explains that the 'enduring memorial' is in memory of all victims of the Holocaust.

Izzy's design includes steel which weathers with time to give added effect.
Brigg Town Council organises a poignant ceremony every January to mark Holocaust Memorial Day - one of many to be held across the world.
The Town Council now manages the Millennium Green, which was initially overseen by members of a trust formed to bring this Year 2000 project to fruition.

While taking these pictures, Brigg Blog spotted the black-painted metal structure, pictured above, in one corner of the Millennium Green, close to Elwes Street. Can anyone tells us its purpose? It's not high enough to be much use as a cycle stand. You could tether a horse there but that's clearly not the intention.
