The Vicar of Brigg conducted his final service at St John's Church in late December before departing for pastures new. But his name lives on in the town centre.
This picture, taken recently near the Wrawby Street entrance to the church, still carries Father Owain Mitchell's name.
Our long-serving and popular vicar is now ministering to the needs of folk in New Mills, Derbyshire.
Brigg Blog asked the church authorities to keep us informed about the appointment of Father Owain's successor. There's been no word so far.
There will be another online church service in Brigg this Sunday (April 19) using the ZOOM app. See earlier weeks' blog posts for instructions. Kate Marr will be leading this one, from 10.30am. The meeting code to use is ID: 978 8891 8428. Everyone is welcome to take part.
On Sunday, April 26 the Rev Peter Thomas will be leading the online worship in Brigg.
Returning to the subject of nameplates, some Brigg licensees' names remained on signs above pub entry doors for YEARS after they pulled their last pints, including Tom Merriman at the White Horse.
Displaying publicans' names in this way is no longer a licensing law requirement, we are told.
