TOUCHES OF COLOUR VERY WELCOME IN BRIGG DURING THESE TROUBLED TIMES

Pub chain J D Wetherspoon is unable to serve any Brigg customers at present due to the enforced Coronavirus emergency closure applying to all UK licenced premises. But the company is still adding a touch of welcome colour to our town centre during these troubles times.
Hanging baskets of flowers adorn the Wrawby Street frontage and also the side of the pub & restaurant on Grammar School Road South.

Even if 'Spoons' regulars can't admire the displays at present, passers-by can while on shopping trips or taking permitted exercise periods.

We also photographed this colourful flower display in a tub on Bigby Street, near the Pizza Jim takeaway. There are other planters within the pedestrianised zone.
Brigg in Bloom usually comes into full bloom from early July with displays at various locations, including on top of the County Bridge and along the railings on Barnard Avenue.
At present we've no idea how long the UK emergency will last and the government can lift some of the restrictions on people getting out and about.
Many Brigg residents are now finding themselves with more time on their hands and are using some of it to tend their gardens.
Brigg Town Council organises an annual competition, with prizes awarded in late summer to those gardens judged the best.
The suspension of brown bin (garden waste) collections by North Lincolnshire Council to take away pulled-up weeds and other green material from those households without composters is being accepted by the vast majority of green-fingered devotees.
Wheelie bin and recycling box collections have much higher priority and continue to operate.
Bright Spring sunshine prompted us to take a couple of pre-Easter pictures (below) of the Old River Ancholme - from the Ancholme Way flyover and the County Bridge - on Wednesday morning (April 8).
