North Lincolnshire Council having suspended garden waste (brown bin) emptying until further notice, many Brigg householders may be wondering what to do with pulled-up weeds and hedge clippings as we are well into the growing season and bins are now full or filling up rapidly.
Some may be thinking of loading up the car boot with bags and heading for the recycling site just outside Broughton.
However, please note that the council says: "Residents are urged not to take the contents of their brown bin to Household Recycling Centres (tips) but to compost them at home. More information about this is on the home composting page on the North Lincolnshire Council website."
The council is giving priority to emptying general waste and recycling bins during the Coronavirus emergency. The vast majority of householders will agree with this course of action.
However, a look at the forthcoming household collection dates for Brigg suggests no brown bin emptying at all this month or throughout May.
So some gardens might be seeing temporary 'compost corners' taking shape for the first time.
In respect of recycling sites, the council says residents are being urged to use these "only in exceptional circumstances, for example where they have excess general household waste to dispose of. "
The council is also asking people not to light bonfires to dispose of accumulations.

1.Perhaps ask neighbours whether they have a composter...and woulc be willing to take suitable garden cuttings..
2. Make your own compost heap...
3. Put into plastic bags...its mostly water anyway anf the bulk reduces rapidly...could use it as a mulch around plants later...
4. Keep goats..anf all problems solved..apart from goat muck...could hire out goat to neighbours with similar garden waste problems

tips are taking garden waste but your limited to one visit per day also when the skips full no other garden waste will be taken till it's replaced usually for next day.
