BRIGG BLOG REFLECTS ON FEBRUARY 2020 BEING CONFIRMED AS THE WETTEST ON RECORD

With blue sky over Brigg this afternoon - a rarity in recent weeks - The Met Office informs us that February 2020 was the wettest February since records began, and also that this is  the fifth wettest winter on record.

Brigg has seen River Ancholme levels rise considerably on a couple of occasions recently, with some bank-topping near the Ancholme Way A18 flyover, a few trees and fences have been toppled by high winds, with some sports events cancelled.

But compared with many other communities across the UK we haven't suffered too badly.
Pictured above: Mark Neal's dramatic picture of a toppled tree on Birch Avenue, Brigg, during Storm Ciara that brought very high winds and driving rain. We were unfortunate enough to be drenched while out and about on that particular Sunday.
