HOMEOWNERSHIP EXPO WILL INTEREST MANY BRIGG PEOPLE

Brigg Blog does not publicise many events outside our district but we are making an exception for one advising people about home ownership and moving up the property ladder because this is a topic of interest to many local people.
The Homeownership Expo, which is free to attend, will be held on Saturday, March 21, from 11am to 2pm, at the UTC in Church Square, Scunthorpe.
The college is located in the town centre, close to the bus station and market. Public parking is available nearby or take one of Hornsbys No 4 or X4 buses from Brigg.
At the Expo, local people will be able to access lots of advice and guidance needed to buy a house and get on (or move up) the property ladder.
Various talks/presentations are planned:
11am: No Deposit, No Problem - How rent to buy can help you get on the property ladder. Come along to this talk to find out how you can become a home owner without having a deposit currently saved. Ongo’s ‘Rent to Buy’ scheme supports first time buyers to get on the property ladder by offering a reduced rate rent for an initial letting period of five years to allow you to save up a deposit at the same time. You’ll then have the option to buy your home at the end of the five years.
11.30am: Buying and Selling: How it Works - Walshe's Property and Letting Agency will talk you through every stage of the house buying and selling process, from valuations to top tips for house-hunting.
Noon: Stamp Duty Explained - Sills & Betteridge Solicitors will explain the complexities of Stamp Duty; who has to pay, who doesn't, and how much.
12.30pm: Investing in Property - Walshe's Property and Letting Agency and Smooth Financial Solutions will talk you through buying a second property, whether it's to let, as a second home, or to refurbish and sell on.
The Expo has been organised by North Lincolnshire Council, Ongo (the local social landlord), Sills and Betteridge Solicitors, and Smooth Financial Solutions.
The council tells us: "This free event is suitable for everyone on any rung of the property ladder, from first-time buyers to down-sizers. "There will also be advice for those looking to buy a second property to let.
"Visitors to the expo can meet with estate agents, mortgage providers, solicitors, banks and building societies, insurance companies, removal companies, house builders and more for advice and guidance on every stage of the house-buying process."
Businesses attending will include: Ongo, Smooth Financials, Sills & Betteridge, Walshe’s Property & Lettings, Barclays Bank, BRRLAW,   Natwest, William H Brown, Beco Wallform and BG Solicitors
There's no mention of booking places in advance - just turn up on the day.
