BRIGG INVITED TO JOIN NEW MARKET TOWNS GROUP

Brigg Town Council has declined an invitation to join a new national group promoting market towns across the UK.
The Rural Services Network is establishing a Rural/Market Towns Group to give a new 'voice' to countryside towns and some larger parishes.
The council considered the invitation during its latest meeting, with £130 mentioned as the likely cost.
Coun Rob Waltham said he did not feel the town would benefit by taking part, and it was agreed to decline the offer.
Coun Waltham went on to record his thanks to North Lincolnshire Council colleagues Couns Carl and Nigel Sherwood for their support and work during the recent flood alerts - Coun Carl being Brigg's Flood Warden.
Town Clerk Dinah Lilley gave an update on the future creation of new allotments on Woodbine Park, saying a revised site plan had now been received from North Lincolnshire Council.
During its latest meeting, the Town Council declined an offer from Lincolnshire Life magazine to feature Brigg, having heard there would be a cost involved.
