Brigg councillor Coun Carl Sherwood was involved in approving the creation of a new scheme offering financial support to those affected by recent flooding in North Lincolnshire.
Coun Sherwood (Brigg & Wolds) and Coun Neil Poole (Ridge Ward) gave the go ahead in their roles as North Lincolnshire Council cabinet members.
It was proposed that the council took action "to support impacted properties, regardless of the availability of Government funding, based upon a Flood Recovery Framework."
The following financial assistance has now been put in place:
- Community recovery grants of £500 for eligible households
- Business recovery grants of up to £2,500 for eligible businesses
- Council tax discounts
- Hardship/crisis grants for exceptional family circumstances up to £500 for eligible households.
A North Lincolnshire Council report, prepared by senior officers, explained: "A significant amount of rainfall fell across North Lincolnshire on Thursday 7th November and overnight, and again on 14th November 2019, which has resulted in instances of flooding across North Lincolnshire."
