FIRST BRIGG-EDUCATED MP IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS?

SJN and its forerunners Brigg Grammar and Brigg Girls' High have some ex-pupils who have made their mark, but we think she is the first  MP from the ranks of Old Briggensians.
In recent decades, others to make a mark in their chosen fields include David Yelland - editor of The Sun newspaper; Sid Marlow, rugby league international for Wales;  Carmel McCourt, singer who has made the UK singles charts; Eric Kemp, Church of England Bishop; Lord Sandy Trees, Professor and world authority in veterinary parasitology.
Holly's Scunthorpe Constituency includes a number of rural communities near Brigg as well as the steel town.
Vale of Ancholme School, Brigg - now the Vale Academy - has Guy Martin, motor-cycle racer and now TV series presenter - among its former pupils.
