RIVERSIDE SURGERY'S EXTENSION PLAN IN BROUGHTON APPROVED
Riverside Surgery has been granted permission to extend premises in Broughton that are allied to the Barnard Avenue centre in Brigg.
The Broughton surgery, on Brooklands Avenue, having seen its patient list grow significantly in recent years requires additional consulting rooms.
North Lincolnshire Council has now approved plans to create an extension to the rear to accommodate these, as well as remodelling the internal space.
It is intended to create a more inviting reception area - a new reception desk being "twinned with the pharmacy."
Planners have given approval to change the use of a domestic garden to form the extension, plus additional car parking, erection of a single-storey rear extension (including part demolition of an existing building) and associated external works.
Broughton Town Council objected "due to insufficient parking for patients as a result of the extension."
However, a North Lincolnshire Council officer's report said: "Highways have considered the proposal and raise no objection on highway safety grounds or in relation to the level of parking provision. Conditions are recommended in relation to the vehicular access, parking and turning spaces being provided, for a travel plan to be submitted and for the submission of a phased traffic management plan (to include the construction and demolition of the building). It is considered that the proposal will not be detrimental to highway safety provided that the conditions recommended by Highways are imposed on any planning permission."
