A funeral service for Barrie Briggs was held at St John's Church in Brigg on Thursday, being conducted by Father Owain Mitchell. All seats were taken and some people had to stand at the back of the church - reflecting Barrie popularity. Afterwards, many people went to the Servicemen's Club - a favourite of Barrie's when it came to chatting about sport - to raise a glass or two in his memory.
