Following the D-Day landings in France during June 1944, Allied troops were supplied by PLUTO - Pipeline Under The Ocean. Brigg has PLOTA, Pipeline Over The Ancholme. As our pictures show, it's close to the bridge that carries the M180 over the waterway, and not far from The Point, where the old river meets the canalised section.

D-DAY REFLECTIONS IN BRIGG
