ANNIVERSARY OF LADY DIANA’S FAMOUS VISIT TO BRIGG DRAWS NEAR

The anniversary of the planting of this tree in Brigg by The People’s Princess is drawing near.

On March 29, 1988 the Princess of Wales – Lady Diana – paid Brigg a visit and planted this ornamental pear tree on a grassy bank between the Spring’s Parade car park and the Old River Ancholme towpath.
The tree commemorates the inauguration of the Brigg Regeneration Project which aimed to breathe new life into some of our town centre buildings and businesses.
As you can see, planting has now taken place to keep it looking good for another year.
It was a memorable day for Brigg when the Princess came to town to highlight this worthwhile Brigg project.

Maybe you were among the crowds who turned out to see her.
