Former Brigg Grammar School pupils will have happy memories
of visiting what was know as the tuck shop – run by Jack Clarke.
As well as stocking sweets, crisps and ice creams, he also
had pens, paper and the paints we used in art classes.
Sixth form prefects supervised the queue at break times,
letting only half-a-dozen hungry boys into the shop at a time. The shop also sold newspapers and magazines.
It continued in similar manner for many years until closure
finally arrived and it was converted back to residential use (left of
picture).
