BRIGG FOOD BANK - AN UPDATE

FROM COUN THE REV ALEC DEPLEDGE

Brigg Food Bank was successfully launched in October 2013, with the expressed aim of distributing emergency food to those in crisis. In the first 6 months of its operation it has enjoyed welcome support from many sections of the community, and helped, on average, between 8 and 10 families each week.
Access to the Food Bank comes via several agencies, which make available ‘vouchers’, if eligible, entitling clients to receive up to 3-days supplies. Currently these agencies are:

In Brigg
- Brigg Children’s Centre, Grammar School Road
- The Local Link, the Angel, Market Square

In Scunthorpe
-  Adult Mental Health Services, 344 Ashby Rd
-  Children & Family Support Service, Church Square House
-  Citizens’ Advice Bureau,  12 Oswald Road
-  Humberside Probation Trust, 1 Park Square, Laneham Street
-  Mental Health Services, Berkeley Business Centre
-  N Lincs Credit Union, 162 High St
-  Humber Care Ltd, Scunthorpe Branch

Additionally, people may contact the Brigg Food Bank phone number (07719 431401) The phone is switched on between 9 & 5 from Monday to Friday. If there is no answer, messages are replied to as quickly as possible.
Brigg Food Bank is run by local volunteers, and is part of the Trussell Trust national initiative. Distribution sessions are held each Monday and Friday afternoon between 1pm and 2.30pm at St Mary’s Church Hall, Barnard Avenue.
If you are able to offer help, either as a volunteer or a donor, the organizers would love to hear from you. Why not visit our website, for more information at:
