FINE FEATURE ABOUT BRIGG MUSICIAN

Among many articles of interest in the Autumn 2018 issue of the Brigg Matters community magazine is a fine feature about John Thompson - leader of the locally renowned Ancholme River Jazz Band (pictured above performing in the Market Place).
John, born in 1935, is a former pupil of Brigg Grammar School who went on to qualify and work as an architect.
The article by Graham West  - headlined A Passion for Jazz - gives details of time John spent in Australia, where one of his children was born.
Copies of this free 44-page magazine are now being delivered to Brigg households.
It is not-for-profit and produced by a committee under the chairmanship of our good friend Ken Harrison, whose pictures often appear on Brigg Blog.
We note that our former Brigg Town Cricket Club batting colleague, Paul Hildreth, is now serving on the committee.
Becky Reynolds is the editor of Brigg Matters and makes reference in her introductory notes to an article asking people not to feed bread to ducks and swans on the River Ancholme.
Brigg Blog had already spotted advisory signs near the County Bridge and posted a piece about this topic of interest.
