SIZEABLE RISE IN BRIGG CRIME


Brigg has seen a sizeable rise in month-on-month crime.
The latest figures have been made public through www.police.uk
They are for July 2018 when 81 crimes within a one-mile radius of Brigg town centre were reported to Humberside Police.
That total compares with the 52 reported during June.

  • Other theft    8
  • Possession of weapons    0

  • Shoplifting    9
  • Theft from the person     0
  • Vehicle crime     5
  • Violence and sexual offences 22
Twenty-five of these crimes took place at or near the town centre.
It should be noted that seven of the 81 incidents were outside Brigg - six in Scawby Brook and one on the Water's Edge housing estate, which is in Broughton.
By way of comparison, July 2017 saw 51 crimes in Brigg, while in July 2016 there were 54.
