BRIGG TALK TO PROVE POPULAR

Tickets are now on sale for a Brigg event that's likely to prove popular among those who take an interest in local history.
Brigg Heritage Centre is presenting a talk by David Gibson called Airfields of North Lincolnshire.
It will take place at The Buttercross, in the Market Place, on Wednesday, October 17, fom 7pm.
Tickets - available from Brigg Heritage Centre within the Angel building and from Brigg Tourist Information Centre - cost £5, which includes refreshments.
Among local airfields were the Second World War bomber bases at Elsham (part of which is now an industrial estate) and Kirmington, the site of Humberside Airport.
Fighters operated from Kirton Lindsey and Hibaldstow.
Brigg pubs were a popular port of call for off-duty crews, as was the Marrow Bone & Cleaver at Kirmington and the Railway Inn, Barnetby.

I wonder, Nige....could this Lancaster be 'Mike Squared' of No 103 Squadron at Elsham?
The aircraft is famous for surviving 140 sorties and shooting down 2 German aircraft.
Certainly, there are 2 symbols (swasticas) shown on the Lanc which would normally indicate 2 enemy planes destroyed...just the off-chance...the airframe number was ED388 methinks.
