BRIGG & DISTRICT NOMINATIONS WELCOME FOR COMMUNITY CHAMPION AWARDS

Brigg has its annual Joseph J. Magrath OBE award for Public Voluntary Service, the current holder of the trophy being Jean Neall, pictured above.
However, North Lincolnshire Council holds its own event to reward public-spirited people across the district.
People in Brigg and district may now be nominated....

Nominations are open for the next Community Champion Awards at The Baths Hall, Scunthorpe on Thursday 22 November 2018.
You can nominate now online at www.northlincs.gov.uk/champion. Alternatively you can contact the business and integration team on 01724 297270 or emailing community.recreation@northlincs.gov.uk for a nomination form.
Do you know an individual or group that deserves an award:

• For the time they have dedicated to volunteering?
• For their contribution to the health and wellbeing of the community?
• To recognise their personal achievements in overcoming barriers or excelling in a sport or the arts?
• For their work in the local community?
• For being a true inspiration to others?

Make sure they get the recognition they deserve and nominate them for a 2018 Community Champion Award. There are 23 awards you can nominate people for:

Cllr John Briggs, Mayor of North Lincolnshire. said:  "I am delighted by the level of support from local businesses with many new ones on board this year. Winners receive a trophy and certificate, and runners-up receive a certificate.
Since the council’s Community Champion Awards started nearly seven years ago over 130 awards have been given out.

Dawn Adams Da Costa, winner of Services to School Governance Award 2017, said: “I was born in North Lincolnshire and I think it’s a fabulous place to be and to live. To be able to do this and publicly celebrate what people are doing, I just think is fabulous.”
Mike L’Angellier and Jim Cassidy, winners of Adult Male Volunteer Award 2017, said: “A couple of old gardeners didn’t expect to win something like this. The other people in the nomination sounded far more deserving.”
Scunthorpe and Glanford Canoe Club, winner of Community Sports Team of the Year 2017 said:  “It’s not about coming first I think it’s about being put forward. If the outcome was second, we would have been as happy as we are now.”
Rowan Tierney, winner of Young Carer of the Year Award 2017,  said:  “It’s really impressive and inspirational. The amount of good that people do in the community that you don’t even hear about all the time. So it’s quite nice for a night like this where they do have a moment where they can be appreciated.”
