70 YEARS OF THE NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE TO BE CELEBRATED IN BRIGG

Seventy years of the National Health Service will be celebrated in Brigg next week.
The North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group will do so in the town centre's Angel Suite, off Exchange Place, on Thursday, June 28, when you are welcome to join members and officials.
The CCG - responsible for designing, developing and buying local health services in the North Lincolnshire area - will be holding its annual general meeting.
The event will open at 1.15pm with a light buffet and the opportunity to mark the 70-year milestone. The AGM will take place from 2pm to 4pm.
Anyone wish questions they wish to raise should submit them in advance to NLCCG.ContactUs@nhs.net

The clinical commissioning group has offices in Brigg at Health Place, off Wrawby Road. Older townsfolk will remember when Glanford Hospital was located here.
Streets in Brigg have been named after some doctors who served with the NHS. Eg Holme Close, Foxton Way and Dixon  Close. And there are a good many folk still living in Brigg who came into the world at Glanford Hospital.
Brigg Blog is pleased to see the CCG holding meetings at venues in the town other than its own offices.  Earlier this year we reported that one was arranged for the new Community Room at the Recreation Ground.
This might be something that other public bodies could try.  If, for example, the North Lincolnshire Council planning committee has a "major application" to consider that's in Brigg, could the councillors meet at a venue in our town, rather than at Scunthorpe Civic Centre? This might then attract interested members of the public to view the proceedings and perhaps express their views - for or against the application in question.
