A SWIFT POST FROM BRIGG BLOG THIS MORNING...

Brigg Blog is wondering what's happened to a couple of familiar indicators that summer is on its way.
We have seen very few swifts and not heard a single cuckoo.
Have we just been unlucky? Or are numbers of both species well down on previous years?
Swifts visit our town from early June before heading back to Africa in mid-August.
They spend all their time on the wing, consuming insects.
Long-favoured haunts are Grammar School Road and Central Square/East Parade.
You can also see some swifts over the town centre and we spied one this morning in the sky near the Tintab shelter, adjoining the Monument.
