WELCOME RAILWAY INVESTMENT ON THE BRIGG LINE

Workers have nearly finished upgrading railway signals on the Brigg line.
LED lights, using much less electricity than the traditional type, are central to the upgrade.
This investment is seen as extending the Brigg line's future.
Most folk in the town will be aware that passenger trains only call at Brigg station on Saturdays, but the line is open for freight on other days of the week.
This picture - kindly forwarded to us by Brigg line campaigner Paul Johnson - shows work being carried out to signalling at Northorpe.

Replacement of signals is fine but this doesn't bring any publicly perceptible enhancements in isolation as we only have to look at the major signalling scheme carried out in North Lincolnshire a couple of years ago which enhanced the capability of the railway thereabout not one iota for proof. As far as the Brigg line is concerned, and this may come as something of a surprise to the Department for Transport, Network Rail, the train operating companies and local authorities, what people may appreciate is, of all things, passenger trains!
