BRIGG PARK IMPROVEMENTS DELAYED

Improvements are being made to a popular Brigg play area.
However, North Lincolnshire Council says some delays have been experienced at the Donkey Park, off Atherton Way and Almond Grove (almost opposite the Lidl store car park).
Deputy leader Coun Ron Waltham told his Brigg Town Council colleagues that problems with the drainage system on the park have resulted in the opening being delayed until the spring.
Brigg Blog went down and took this picture to show things as they are at the moment.

North Lincolnshire Council subsequently issued the following press release, some days after Coun Rob delivered his report...

Work to improve the play area on Almond Grove in Brigg, locally known as ‘Donkey Park’ is now expected to open in spring 2017.
Work started on the £100,000 upgrade in October and was expected to finish by the end of November.
The play area is to be modernised and accessibility improved to make it fully inclusive. Following consultation with local residents, parents and children at Brigg Primary School, the junior play park will be jungle themed and there will be a wide variety of play elements for young children.
Coun Carl Sherwood, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing at North Lincolnshire Council, said:  “Work is progressing well and we now have the play equipment and fencing installed.
“Unfortunately the recent wet weather has meant the completion of the ground works and laying the safety surfacing has had to be put on hold as they are weather dependent. The weather has further highlighted additional drainage problems on the site, which will we need to address.
“We are working hard to get the improvements finished as soon as possible and ask that people bear with us. We are investing a significant amount of money to improve the park for all to enjoy. It will be worth it in the end.”
