FROM NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

North Lincolnshire markets are once again taking part in the Love Your Local Market fortnight (14 to 28 May) to celebrate the fantastic markets in Brigg, Scunthorpe and Ashby.
The council is hosting a variety of events to mark the long-standing market culture in North Lincolnshire.
This year sees Flo the Clown return to The Podium @ Scunthorpe Market, with her unique style of entertainment and free face painting on Saturday 17 May.
At Brigg Market on Thursday 22 May, shoppers will be entertained with the musical styling of Lys-St-George as they play a dazzling array of instruments throughout the day. Brigg Market is a traditional street market that has a good selection of quality fruit and vegetables, local eggs and home baked cakes.
Explore the award-winning Brigg Farmers’ Market on Saturday 24 May where you can wander round a range of stalls with fresh local produce on offer from friendly traders. There will be lots to choose from and you can even try before you buy.
Discover the popular outdoor Ashby Market on Thursday 15 May and 22 May. It offers everything from delicious fresh fruit and vegetables to toys and treats for your pet! There are traditional butchers, a fishmonger and local foods on sale.
Have you ever thought about having you own market stall? It’s never too late to get started. If you are interested in taking a stall or would like more information email markets@northlincs.gov.uk or call the markets office on 01724 297816.
Love your Local Market is a fortnight’s celebration of the market scene and culture across the UK. 700 markets took part last year.

A North Lincolnshire Council spokeswoman, said: “We have decided to take part in the Love Your Local Market campaign again this year as we have some fantastic markets on offer in North Lincolnshire and we want to celebrate this. It is a great way of highlighting our markets and encouraging more people to visit their local market and discover what brilliant, quality produce is on offer.
“It is a totally different experience shopping at your local market compared to a supermarket as it is often cheaper and you can speak directly to the producers. There is always a wide range of products on offer. Pop along to your local market and see what you are missing out on.”
