BRIGG BUILDINGS OF IMPORTANCE

Brigg people are to be asked what buildings in the town they think are sufficiently important to be given a new form of listing.
Currently we have a number of listed buildings, including Sir John Nelthorpe Upper School (grade one) and  the Buttercross (grade two).
Now there's a new category, Locally Listed, for buildings felt to be valuable to the community that are not listed on the current register which includes the Buttercross, SJN and others.
During the various consultations about the Brigg Town Neighbourhood Plan over the coming months, people will be able to suggest buildings they'd like to see included in the new Locally Listed category.
A few suggestions from us: The Tintabs, our railway station footbridge and the former Post Office.

When this was mentioned over a year ago, the definition also included buildings, facilities and services....has it been altered since then just to include bricks and mortar?
For example, personally, I wouldn't assess the Carers' Centre building in Redcombe Lane particularly significant - but the service it offers is highly significant.
And shouldn't we also include the site (presently derelict) of the Brigg 'Raft'.
Brigg makes a big noise about the 'Raft', but ignores the historical site from where it was excavated.....
