COMPROMISE REACHED ON BRIGG MARKET PLACE TREES

The trees in Brigg Market Place are to be trimmed and shaped by North Lincolnshire Council, Coun Ben Nobbs revealed during a committee meeting of Brigg Town Council in the Angel Suite.
Some months ago it was being suggested that North Lincolnshire Council was considering removal of the trees as they block the view of CCTV cameras when they are in leaf.
However, it now seems the authority has reached what Brigg Blog sees as a sensible compromise.
These trees were planted as part of the Pedestrianisation Scheme in the early 1990s and some might see it as a retrograde step to bring down the axe. However, there's no getting away from the way from the fact that CCTV cameras having an uninterrupted view of the town centre is vital in detecting the culprits of crime.
What we don't yet know, of course, is how severe the trimming and shaping will be.

This decision has taken an extremely long time for a resolution - it was suggested years ago that the trees needed trimming, but it was rejected..
Anyway, whether the view of the Market Place is improved or not, evidence suggests that other CCTV cameras with unrestricted views never seem to see very much !!

This is a great post on the cctv signs. Very neatly explained the importance of safety. We deal in all safety sign and we know that display of cctv signs is as important as fixing security cameras.
