We spent an enjoyable couple of hours this morning (Sunday, May 25) watching the Keyo Brigg Bomber Quadrathlon World Championships 2014 - organised by Lincsquad - which was centred on the Ancholme Leisure Centre at Scawby Brook.
We are pleased to report plenty of supporters at the event - many from a good distance away. A good number went into Brigg from lunchtime to boost trade for those businesses that opened their doors.
The event comprised swimming in the New River Ancholme from Ancholme Leisure Centre to the railway bridge and back, kayaking as far as Broughton Bridge, cycling in Brigg and as far as Waddingham, followed by a run through Brigg to Cadney.
Most spectators parked up happily either side of Island Car Road industrial estate without causing any obstructions we could see. From there it was only a short walk to watch the action.
David Haber, from the Scunthorpe Telegraph, was at the championships for several hours today - photographing all the sections - and his images will appear in galleries on www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/pictures
Brigg Blog took pictures of the cycling and running sections, plus spectators, in Bridge Street, Scawby Road and at the finish near the leisure centre sports hall. Our pix will appear in batches later.
Tonight will see the traditional Lincsquad T-Shirt Tour when competitors, organisers, helpers and friends will be visiting Brigg pubs to unwind and celebrate, starting from the White Hart, Bridge Street, at 7.30pm.
