Brigg Blog is supporting Local News Matters Week (March 7 to 14).
The National Union of Journalists, to which we belong, is "highlighting the importance of local quality journalism and how it makes a difference."
The NUJ stresses that journalists working "on the ground" are essential.
It is asking members across the UK to invite people in their areas "for a quote to say why they think local news matters" as the union seeks to "champion local news."
A hashtag has been created on social media for the campaign - #localnewsmatters
