HOW BRIGG SHOPPERS CAN ENJOY A SATURDAY RETURN TRIP TO MEADOWHALL FOR JUST £11.70

BY PAUL JOHNSON, CAMPAIGNER FOR THE BRIGG RAILWAY LINE

A number of people ask us if they can go from Brigg railway station to Meadowhall on a Saturday. The answer is Yes.
People in Brigg can purchase a Brigg to Barnsley via Meadowhall return ticket for just £11.70, or for under-16s it's £5.85.
The ticket offer is also valid from Kirton In Lindsey.

  • I do recommend a trip to Barnsley for the same price - £11.70 return. Its market is famous.

Do we have someone in Sheffield/Barnsley reciprocally encouragining folk to train to Brigg's monthly farmers' markets?

Actually, the timetable as it presently stands is not too bad for people wishing to visit Brigg from North Nottinghamshire, Sheffield and slightly further afield. From a Brigg viewpoint, for those wanting to travel further afield themselves, an earlier train towards Sheffield in the mornings and later return in the evenings would not go amiss. Promotion has been the key here and Paul Johnson has done a good job in this respect almost singlehandedly much to the shame of the large professional organisations concerned with massive P.R. budgets who haven't.
