The reason why new opening hours have been introduced at Ancholme Leisure Centre by North Lincolnshire Council was explained during a meeting in recent Brigg.
Delivering the monthly update on North Lincolnshire Council issues relating to Brigg, Coun Carl Sherwood said weekday opening had been set at 6am to meet the demand from people wishing to attend before going to work.
Coun Carl, who is North Lincolnshire Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Wellbeing, said a great deal of monitoring had been carried out ahead of the change in opening hours at the centre.
Brigg Blog posted full details in advance last month to inform local people.
New opening hours introduced from September 2, 2019 are as follows:
Monday to Friday: 6am to 9pm.
Sunday: 9am to 9pm.
This leisure centre was opened by Glanford Borough Council in the 1970s and taken over by North Lincolnshire Council when it was created by local government reorganisation in 1996.
The name was subsequently changed from Glanford to Ancholme, though many local people have always called it Brigg Leisure Centre, even though it's just over the border in Scawby Brook.
