FIRST MINI MILITARY TATTOO IN BRIGG

The Brigg District Veterans' Group staged what we think was the town's first Mini Military Tattoo.
It took place on Saturday (September 13) with various stalls and stands in the Market Place, kilted pipers in attendance and re-enactors on land near the Millennium Green and close to the Angel's rear car park (pictured here).
Charles Brindley, one of our local veterans, set up HQ in the Bandstand, with information about the poppy appeal.
There were also breakfasts available at the Britannia Inn, which proved popular.
We hope the organisers will stage another tattoo or two in the future.
Saturday's event was held at the same time as the Town Mayor's coffee morning in the nearby Angel Suite, where the best garden and allotments prizes were presented.
Some people from the coffee morning later took a look at the tattoo, while others who had been at the military event moved on to the coffee morning. So they complemented each other.
We thought some features of the display near the Millennium Green looked familiar. Then the penny dropped; the same group had been at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, in Ludborough, when we paid it a visit a few weeks ago.
On display in Brigg - and at Ludborough - was a manikin wearing an RAF officer's uniform who goes by the name of Nigel!
