SMALLER STAGE 'PUT TO MORE USE' AT BRIGG CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON CEREMONY

Brigg Blog thought a change introduced at this year's Christmas lights switch on ceremony on Friday evening went well.
We've heard no adverse comments about the stage not being as large for the 2017 event as it had been in previous years.
There were no cast members this time from the Scunthorpe Plowright Theatre or Grimsby Auditorium pantomimes to accommodate while they performed for the crowds, and the size of the stage erected on Friday outside the Angel building seemed more than adequate.
Brigg Town Council discussed provision of the stage at meetings spread over several months.
At the latest, held just a few days before the switch on ceremony, councillors were told the 2017 stage would be smaller, provided at lower cost "and be put to more use."
Spectators in the Market Place enjoyed watching Mr Scrooge perform, alongside some well-known faces from Brigg Amateur Operatic Society, followed by school choristers and band members.
Later, guitar in hand, Coun James Truepenny, pictured above, took to the stage with fellow musicians.
