'EXPANSION' BY BRIGG AREA PUB/RESTAURANT GETS THE GO AHEAD
North Lincolnshire Council has approved an expansion-related planning application at a well-known pub/restaurant visited by many people from the Brigg area.
Approval has been given to retain external alterations and a link to an existing outbuilding to form additional restaurant space at the Red Lion, 45 High Street, Broughton.
A report about the application, prepared by council planners, said: "It is considered that the alterations and extension is proportionate to the scale of the buildings attached to the rear and are not highly visible in the street scene.
"The proposal also allows the existing public house to expand its existing operations and provide additional covers in the extended dining room.
"The proposal is not considered to result in loss of residential amenity or impact on highway safety.
"Given the expansion of dining facilities proposed to serve the public house, it is considered prudent to recommend a condition that the current level of parking provision to the south is retained at all times."
Broughton Town Council raised no objections to the application.
Just a suggestion: The No 4 Hornsby bus service from Brigg stops and picks up right outside the Red Lion. Leave the car at home and enjoy a pint or two or a bottle of wine with your meal over the festive period. Use this link to view the timetable...
