CHRISTMAS PERIOD FOOTBALL TO ENJOY IN BRIGG

Watching a football match over the Christmas period has long been a tradition for many people living in Brigg and district.
We remember boarding the Brigg Branch of the Grimsby Town Supporters' Club bus outside Brigg Cemetery to go and watch the Mariners in Boxing Day matches over many seasons and also going to see Scunthorpe United in action at the Old Show Ground and (more recently) Glanford Park.
Brigg Town Football Club's festive fixture this year will be on Saturday, December 23 at The Hawthorns against Campion in the Tool Station Northern Counties East First Division (3pm KO).
There is no first team league match on Boxing Day, December 26, this year.
Brigg Town lost 3-0 at home to Grimsby Borough on Saturday (December 9) - perhaps a scoreline many expected between our bottom-placed side and the fourth-placed team in the standings.
The crowd, on a bitterly cold day, was 114.
Brigg were a goal down at the break and the visitors secured victory in this Lincolnshire derby with two further goals in the second half.
Most  Northern Counties matches were cancelled on Saturday due to frozen pitches.
This Saturday (December 16) Brigg Town journey to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, who are fourth from bottom.
