BRIGG TOWN'S HAWTHORNS A HUNTING GROUND FOR CHRISTMAS FOOTBALL MEMORIES & THIS POST IS NOT SPAM!

Here are some memories of a pre-Christmas match Brigg Town FC played at the Hawthorns when it was much higher up the league football pyramid structure.
Fans were in the festive spirit, with some in fancy dress, including one who went as a tin of Spam.
Santa also made an early appearance.
The Zebras drew 1-1 with Ilkeston in the Evo-Stik First Division South.
Ryan Paczkowski was the Brigg scorer before a crowd of 143 swelled by many visiting supporters.

Brigg Town: Tom Woodhead, Connor Marshall, Matthew Plant, Chris Dickman, Lee-Roy Cochrane, Gregg Archer (captain), Liam Davis, Jordan Cooper, Ryan Paczkowski, David Ricardo, Liam Dickens; substitues, Joel Shortland, Joseph Clement, John Leonard, Jamal Shahin, Ryan Musselwhite (keeper).
We took these pictures. But also in attendance, with camera, was Reynard's Hunting Grounds.
This interesting blog later posted a very in-depth and informative feature about the game, the ground and the clubs concerned.

Maggie Thatcher once said that Spam was a wartime delicacy.
Before that a Monty Python gave rise to the double-meaning of spam in the association of unsolicited messages...ie e-mail spam.
I still see fried Spam being advertised, in some food outlets as an item in a Full-English....or within a bacon-nutty.
During WW2, the USA troops referred to Spam, comprising meats from the cheaper cuts, as ham failing its medical!
I recall Spam being sold with the same type of key opener, as found on tins of corned beef....ok when it worked, but a major cause of cuts when it didn't!
