A long-established scheme to create new homes and shops in Brigg town centre has moved a step closer after a five-year wait.
Back in 2012 an application was made to develop land behind Nos 5 & 6 Market Place - occupied by the Smith Parkinson garage for many years and later turned into Grimley Smith's offices (now used by Brown & Co).
North Lincolnshire Council subsequently granted permission for demolition of a metal clad shop, a store and a retail stall and for the erection of a mixed use development comprising eight town houses, six flats and three shops.
The retail stall was removed a few months ago and now a further planning application has been submitted.
Market Court Developments Ltd, of 6 Market Place, is seeking to vary a condition relating to noise measurement/control which was contained in the original planning approval.
Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee, meeting in the Angel Suite, agreed to support the proposal.
But it also said the Town Council "would like confirmation that the existing bollards at the entrance to Cary Lane are to remain."
The shops proposed will be situated off Cary Lane, close to where it meets Spring's Way.
A statement submitted in support of the application suggests that the local authority "has made a mistake in the wording for condition 17."
North Lincolnshire Council will now decide whether to grant the request made by Market Court Development Ltd.
